Reward Yourself: Why It is Important

How are you getting on with your resolutions or goals?

We aren’t that far into January but some people will have given up on their resolutions or goals already.

Still going? Excellent. That’s what I like to hear.

Maybe it is time to give yourself a little reward.

Rewarding ourselves when we accomplish parts of our goals is important because it helps us recognise our achievements and then spurs us on to the next milestone.

Rosie of One Man Band Accounting is a firm believer that you should reward yourself with cake as you complete your tax return if you have to do one. Why? Well, it is a big job and it is important to get it right, so it deserves some personal credit along the way.

A food reward might not be the best idea if losing weight is your goal, but there are plenty of other ideas.

I am going to watch one of my favourite films The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian as my reward for completing week 2 of my ‘publish 1 blog post a week’ goal.

What about you? What kinds of things do you like to reward yourself with? Please share them with us.

  1. I definitely agree with rewards – and no, not food (although sometimes there is nothing better than treating yourself to your favourite chocolate). For me it’s often a long soak in a hot bubble bath with some good music on, just some time to myself to relax and unwind.

  2. Hi Zoe,

Thank you for your lovely comment.

I like the sound of the long soak in the bath accompanied by music. Think I shall give that a try.
