How Life Gave Me The Opportunity To Be A Radio Show Guest

A while ago, I wrote a post called Be Bold and Say Yes to Your Universe in which I talked all about grabbing an opportunity when it is given to you and making the most of it.

How Life Gave Me The Opportunity To Be A Radio Show Guest

Now the time seems appropriate for me to share with you about a little more about myself and how grabbing life’s opportunities is really making a difference to me.

You see last week, I appeared as a guest on a radio show.

And when I say appeared on a radio show, I don’t just mean a 2 minute phone in conversation, I mean being in the studio with the presenter for a whole hour.

If you had told me 4 months ago, that I would be appearing on a radio show as a guest on a Wednesday afternoon in early February, I would have said you were mad.

That was because I was in a full time job at the time that was making me unhappy.

So just how did I end up on this radio show?

Well, just over 3 months ago, realising that there was more to life, I left the job to take a career break.

I believe that we should be happy with what we are doing and life is short, so we really ought not to waste it.

I have been blogging for quite a long time and have been developing a passion for doing it. There is something about being able to put words on a screen that might one day just have the power to inspire someone else.

Why not see if I could do something with it?

That was my motivation to leave my job and set out to see what was possible for me.

Fortune favours the brave

I was lucky enough early on in my career break period to meet Mark Sephton ; a mentor to entrepreneurs and the host of Talk Business with Mark Sephton on Radio Plus.

Through working with Mark, I had the courage to tell him I wanted to be on his show.

When he told me I would be on in 2 weeks time and he wanted me to give his listeners 10 tips on blogging, I began to question the wisdom of my decision.

But I had had the courage to get this far and had asked for this opportunity so it would have been silly to have wasted it now, wouldn’t it?

So I took a deep breath, wrote the tips and appeared on the show.

I was nervous at first, but once, I settled down, my confidence grew and I really began enjoying doing it.

In fact, I like to think that I rocked it in the end.

I have no idea what opportunities might be around the next corner, but I like to think I will give them a go and I am sure you might hear about them here.

Over to you, what opportunities has life given you?

I bet you did great once you got over your nervousness. Heck, I would be scared to death myself knowing all those people are listening.

I’m sure though that it was a great experience for you and hopefully something else will come from it. I’ll wish you the very best with that too and thanks for sharing this with us.
