Be Grateful For What You Have

I look out of the window and it is raining hard.

Be Grateful For What You Have

The sort of rain where you get soaked to the skin within about a minute of being outside.

Today I had planned to go for a lovely long walk, but it will not be happening now as it is too wet.

I feel decidedly miffed that I won’t be able to do what I had planned.

Over a cup of coffee, I ponder that it really isn’t the end of the world that I cannot go walking today.

There will be other days when I can go out and about and I am suddenly grateful that this can be the case.

Come to think of it, I am also grateful that I am somewhere right now where I am warm and safe.

Such simple things.

We get so lost in life’s big picture that we often lose sight of the things that we can be grateful for.

I know I do.

Today I have found at least 2 things I can be grateful for, but there are definitely more things to be grateful for than just these.

What about family? Friends? Employment opportunities? Life experiences?

The list could be endless.

So what can you be grateful for?

With this in mind, today I have a little challenge for you:-

Write down 5 things that you can be grateful for right now.

Then share them with me in the comments.

If you would rather share them with me via email then that is fine too. I would love to hear from you.

Up for the challenge?

Ready, Steady, GO….

    2. A supporting family
    3. Still having my dad around regarding of cancer
    4. A few friends who I can count for anything
    5. A clear path of where I’m going in life

  3. It’s the small things in life – easy to overlook, but important to take time to notice. For some reason we can’t see them when we’re in the big picture, but, yeah, you’re right that we should always take time to notice the little things that we have going right.

For me, I’m grateful that I get to read and write every day. I have a great wife too. I’m very grateful for all I have. That’s a good feeling to have.

I definitely agree with you about being grateful for being able to read and write every day. I am sure I would miss them if I didn’t get to do at least one or other of them.

  5. Hi Jo,

After the way my week started boy do I have a lot to be grateful for. Let’s see.

Monday morning started off finding out my Aunt was in the hospital for the third time and my cousins thought she had also had a stroke.

That night I found out one of my neighbors passed away suddenly from a heart attack and he was my age. So immediately my thoughts went to thank God I’m healthy, happy and alive.

I’ve had to take my Mom to two doctor’s appointments already so I’m blessed that at her age she is as healthy as she is. I guess right now the health thing is heavily on my mind but I’m thankful for every new day I have on this earth.

I’m grateful for my life, my health, my family, my dog, my friends, you name it. We really do have it good when you look at the grand scheme of things.

    Thanks for this wonderful reminder.

    1. Hi Adrienne,

Oh my word, there are lots of things going on in your world. I hope your Aunt is on the mend now.

It is in times like these when no matter how dark things seem, we sometimes get perspective and realise how grateful we can be for things.

Like you say, the sun always rises on a new day and we can be grateful for that at the very least.

      Have a great week.

      Jo
