Why It is Perfectly OK to Fail

Why It is Perfectly OK To Fail

I have failed.

Yes, really. I have failed

I have failed because I didn’t publish a blog post last week.  It just didn’t happen.

This means I have failed at my 2015 goal of publishing 1 blog post a week on Always Think You Can.

Not a life threatening failure, but disappointing for me none the less.

Now I could let this get me down or I could choose to let this be a valuable life lesson about how I deal with failure.

I have decided that I am not going to let it stand in my way or use it as an excuse not to continue with my goal.

I am just going to pick myself up and continue where I left off.

Why would I want to do that then?

Often success comes from a little failure

Because others have shown that it is perfectly ok to fail.

Look at J.K.Rowling for example. The 1st Harry Potter book was rejected by 12 publishers before one said yes.

Harry Potter fans the world over are truly glad she didn’t give up at 12th rejections and that she kept trying.

Similarly, Tim Ferriss’s book The 4-Hour Workweek was rejected by 25 publishers before it was accepted for publication.

Once published, The 4-Hour Workweek reached no 1 on the New York Times bestseller list so it was definitely worth Tim not giving up and keep trying.

Persistence is the key.

The message here is to accept that things don’t always turn out the way you want them to 1st time.

It is all part of the learning experience.

Maybe a slightly different approach is required.

I could for example have a look at my blogging strategy and see if I can do more stuff in advance so that I don’t get left without a blog post to publish again.

If you want something badly enough, you’ll get back on the proverbial horse and keep going.

Me, I do want to keep publishing a blog post every week this year so I will keep going.

What are your thoughts on this? Would you agree?

    1. Hi Marzena,

Thank you for your lovely comment and for sharing on FB.

I am really glad that I have been able to inspire you today.

That is what it is all about sometimes. The just knowing that others have faced challenges where it hasn’t quite worked out, but that they haven’t given up. They have continued to chase their dreams.

It gives us the inspiration that we can do it too.

      Have a great day

      Jo
